Toxic dropped after a big opening
Sacnilk had Day 2 down about 64 percent. Friday was slower still.
Yash's Toxic opened huge. Then the collections fell away.
Sacnilk had Day 1 at Rs 101.10 crore. Day 2 came in at Rs 37.65 crore. That is a drop of about 64 percent. After two days the film had already crossed Rs 137 crore in India.
Friday was slower still. Day 3, which fell on Raksha Bandhan, added Rs 26.60 crore. That was down 29.3 percent from Day 2. Occupancy was 17 percent by the afternoon. The film played 19,390 shows.
India net after three days stood at Rs 165.35 crore. India gross was Rs 197.70 crore. Overseas added Rs 4 crore on Day 3 and Rs 23.75 crore in all. Worldwide gross reached Rs 221.45 crore.
The holiday gave the film some support. It was not enough to hold the opening heat.
Toxic is Yash's first film in four years. It is also his second to open above Rs 100 crore, after KGF Chapter 2. That made him the first Indian actor with two such opening days.
The film is a period action thriller. The cast includes Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Nayanthara, and Rukmini Vasanth.
The commercial start is real. The response is mixed. Some viewers on social media called the experience torture. Others praised Yash's screen presence.
KGF Chapter 2 remains his peak. That 2022 film, with Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon, was made for about Rs 120 crore and took Rs 1,250 crore worldwide, according to IMDb. Toxic would need more than another Rs 1,060 crore to pass it.
The next few days will show whether the drop flattens. Holiday numbers matter for a film that spent so much of its fire on opening day.
The gap to KGF Chapter 2 is wide. Holding screens and overseas gross will decide how far this run goes.
