Work on Mumbai Metro 7A, the short link from Gundavali toward the airport, is stuck on Airport Authority of India height limits.
MMRDA found the general consultant's design breached air-funnel norms by metres. Construction in the affected stretch has been halted while the state seeks a revised AAI clearance. If that fails, parts of the elevated structure may need demolition and redesign. Reports put the fix in the region of Rs 250 crore on top of earlier overruns. The line was once due in 2021 and is now aimed at late 2026.
A late-stage height error on an airport connector is the kind of planning miss that costs years, not just crore.
