Mirzapur: The Movie opens near Rs 25 crore net

Mirzapur: The Movie opened Friday with an estimated India net of about Rs 24.75 crore, according to Sacnilk figures reported by The Times of India.
TOI put Hindi at roughly Rs 24.60 crore net and Telugu at about Rs 15 lakh, with India gross past Rs 29.70 crore. That would rank among the stronger Hindi Day 1 openings of 2026, behind titles such as Toxic and Dhurandhar The Revenge on the same early league table, and ahead of Awarapan 2's recent Rs 22 crore net open.
The film stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Ravi Kishan, translating the Amazon Prime Video gangster series to theatres under Excel Entertainment. Trade desks had talked up an Rs 18-20 crore open earlier in the week, then raised expectations as afternoon and evening occupancy climbed from the mid-20s in the morning toward the low-40s later in the day, per Sacnilk updates carried by Mint and other outlets.
It lands in a crowded market. Yash's Toxic is still in theatres after a huge opening and a sharp fall, and the low-budget sleeper Hanuman Ansh has been stealing daily headlines by out-earning bigger films on some midweek days. ETV Bharat and others tracked that midweek fight through early September.
Web-series-to-film transfers often flop when fans decide they already saw it at home. A near-Rs 25 crore Hindi net open says enough people wanted the Mirzapur world on a big screen, and without a traditional star-led opening weekend template.
It also reshapes the weekend slate. Screens that Toxic and Hanuman Ansh have been fighting over now have a third mass Hindi title asking for evening shows, especially in the north where the franchise's language and politics travel best.
