Liverpool visit Ipswich still looking for an Iraola win

Barcola is available; the Reds have drawn their first two league games.

Liverpool play Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Friday night, kick-off 20:00 BST, in Premier League matchweek three.

Andoni Iraola's side have opened with 2-2 draws against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. A third game without a win would be an awkward start for the manager who replaced Arne Slot.

New signing Bradley Barcola, who joined from Paris Saint-Germain this week, will be available if Thursday's training went well, Iraola said. The coach stopped short of promising a start, noting Barcola had not played pre-season minutes.

Ipswich are newly promoted and sit around mid-table after two games. Liverpool sit just behind them on points after the two draws. Opta still makes Liverpool clear favourites at Portman Road, where they are historically strong against Ipswich.

For Indian viewers who follow the Premier League, this is the Friday night match. It is also an early stress test of Iraola's recruitment and full-back options after a messy summer.

Barcola's first involvement would be the main subplot. Liverpool need a clean win more than Ipswich need a point, but promoted sides at home can still spoil the script.

The result lands late Friday India time. After this, Liverpool's near-term league calendar stays busy, and Iraola's first win (or continued wait) will set the tone into the next midweek.
