Hanuman Ansh surged on its fourth Sunday
The low-budget Hindi devotional drama made Rs 12.75 crore net on Day 24, taking India net past Rs 40 crore.
Hanuman Ansh collected Rs 12.75 crore net in India on Day 24, its fourth Sunday. Sacnilk put the show count at 5,363. The day was up 37.8 percent from Saturday's Rs 9.25 crore.
India net now stands at Rs 40.13 crore. India gross is about Rs 47.33 crore. DNA and Sacnilk both carried those totals overnight into Monday.
The film opened on 7 August. Week one made about Rs 1.08 crore. Week two made about Rs 40 lakh. Week three jumped to about Rs 10.40 crore. The fourth weekend then exploded: Rs 6.25 crore on Friday, Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday, then the Rs 12.75 crore Sunday.
Vishal Chaturvedi directed. Shobhinaw Satyaa and Vihaan Shedge lead. It is a Hindi spiritual drama tied to the life of Neem Karoli Baba, made on a small budget reported in the Rs 2 to 3 crore range by trade coverage.
Day 24 Hindi occupancy sat near 62 percent overall on Sacnilk's city breakouts, with strong evening shows in several centres.
A film that barely registered for two weeks is now posting its biggest days in week four. That almost never happens at this scale.
Word of mouth did the work the opening weekend did not. Show counts rose as screens freed up and audiences arrived late. The fourth Sunday being the peak day of the run is the clearest proof.
For Hindi cinema, the story is about content finding a public without a star machine. Trade desks are already calling the returns outsized against the budget. The Rs 50 crore India net line is the next round number the film is chasing.
Monday will show whether the weekend spike holds once weekday prices return.
Day 25 numbers will tell if the fourth-week surge continues. The film is still in theatres. OTT timing has not been announced in the Sacnilk listing.
